Complex Trauma. Neurodivergence. Chronic Illness.
These three categories require a somatic approach more than most. People with Autism, ADHD, Bipolar, OCD, PTSD, C-PTSD, Chronic Pain, Autoimmune, and other stress-complicated inflammatory disorders cannot think their way out of suffering. Their systems are too disregulated for the frontal lobe (prefrontal cortex) to cognitively reframe. This is not a personal failure; it’s a structural limitation in the brain.
Too often, survivors of sexual abuse, combat trauma, devastating loss, or abusive relationships feel too broken to be helped. Likewise, for those on the spectrum or anyone suffering chronic illness, their psychosomatic pain and burnout is frequently poorly understood.
I empathize deeply with these experiences because I am a neurodivergent (AuDHD) survivor of sexual abuse and chronic illness. Every modality I use, from EMDR and Somatic Experiencing to Gestalt and inner child driven work, I have been a patient of.
My eclectic, integrative style of therapy is for people who have tried talk therapy, or even an isolated trial of EMDR, and continue to suffer with minimal change or relief from their symptoms. If that sounds like you, then your body is most definitely keeping the score and it’s time for a different approach.
